In 1998, Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Japanese Tsubasa Club (JTC) was founded as the first Japanese Interest group in Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP). The club was formally formed in 2000.

“Tsubasa” means “Wings” in Japanese, reflecting how JTC plans to soar and achieve new heights in promoting and cultivating Japanese Culture within NP’s students.

The club expanded into the J-pop and Anime divisions in 2006. Cultural activities such as Sushi making, Origami classes and simple Japanese language classes resumed during joint divisions meetings.

In 2008, the club became an cultural & arts group in NP with 3 main divisions: Culture, Daiko and Cosplay.

The Cultural Division conducts activities such as cooking classes, flower pressing and even hosted an exchange visit for Sapporo Hokuto High School in recent years.

The Daiko Division is the Performing Arts division of JTC. With beginnings as an extra-enrichment program in 2007, it is now a 20 members ensemble that performs at various events.

The Cosplay Division is a Special Interest group within JTC. The division conducts basic Cosplay-related classes on a weekly basis to encourage new members that plan to cosplay. Classes range from fabric selection, wig styling, make up and more.

JTC is open to all Ngee Ann Polytechnic students.
