Thankyou speech... by Tofu?

It has come a long way for SOY, growing from a mere little cosplay event held at a small dark corner of Ngee Ann Polytechnic to a rather huge one held at the largest hall in the campus. SOY planning committee has stayed close to the very "By fans, For fans" motto, holding SOY every year for plain passion and fun. Tofu, the mascot of SOY, was also born along the years. Every year, new cosplayers would turn up for SOY due to positive feedbacks from others and us, the planning committee, grows as more talents wish to be part of this journey. SOY has come a long way now. And looking back at all the smiles we bring to our visitors every year will always make us feel the hard work is worthwhile. Of course, some also had unpleasant experiences with SOY and complaints about this and that. But we were never discouraged by them. Instead, we were grateful of it and made sure we make it right the next year. Now, let us not forget to thank those who've worked very hard to make sure SOYC came true. Togusa, founder of SOY Without him, SOY would never have happened. Needless to say Tofu wouldn't have been born as well. He was someone who always made sure every SOY goes on smoothly and that we bring on the best for everyone. Lenne, emcee of SOYC We're sure everyone would have known how hard it is to manage a large crowd, not to say entertain them alone. She definitely brought on her best on stage and made others realise that stage games, can be really fun too. Bentoh and crew, finance dept of SOYC They stayed outdoors through rain and shine, just to make sure every visitor of SOYC will be able to get their tickets in to the event and experience what it is like at SOYC. Not to mention, they were in costumes too. How hot would it be for them! Kazuo and crew, sound dept of SOYC They had indeed, done their very best to bring out the best sounds for all the competitions held at SOYC with the help from EOY committee. All the soundchecks, set up of sound equipments, not easy! Ken and crew, cafe dept of SOYC Did you guys see their costumes? Every stitch and sew were made by themselves. Imagine how much time they've spent on it! And those self-training they held to make sure every one of were to greet their visitors polite and proper, we're impressed! Darren, Diyanah and crew, hr and logistics of SOYC Those strict security manpower you hate? We like! Without them, we wouldn't be able to control the traffic flow well and ensure everyone is able to enjoy themselves to the fullest! Last but not least, we'd like to thank all our sponsors, namely Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Samsung, Animax, Encore Films, Shiseido, Costar, Dark Royalties, Tornado, SGFreebee and our partners/supporters, namely AniPlay, Rebel2, EOY, Haruhouse, Pan-in-the-box, SG cafe. Oh! Not to forget, Desmond, photographer of SOYC who've taken pre and after SOYC photos for us too. Can't wait to view them all! In conclusion, we hoped SOYC would leave the most memorable impression in everyone and let us all continue to show passion in cosplay. Perhaps SOYD could be...'SOY' back on 'D'emand?

SOYC is just a few days away and we're really excited about it! Somehow, we have broken through many "first"s this time round! We had SOY in April unlike the previous years which were held in January, we had more competitions unlike the usual karaoke and cosplay, etc. And now that it's our fourth time holding SOY, we will be having loads of customised Tofu mascot merchandises at the event! Not to forget, SOYC will be trying its best to support Japan in its recovery from the recent disaster too. With SOY joining up with greater forces, we promise you'll definitely enjoy SOYC! Here's some sneak peeks of what to expect on this coming Saturday!

The Decancellation of SOYC

Hello folks! Sorry about the late April Fool's joke. Our Committee has a rather weird sense of humor. =P
As SOY'C' is getting closer and closer, please do check our site for more updates this week. Do follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates on SOY'C'.
Please do not trust any rumour or hearsay. The only place where you should be getting the correct information is, of course, from our official site, Twitter account and/or Facebook.
Once again, we apologise for the lame April Fool's joke. Do note that all pre-sales tickets are sold out. You still can buy SOY'C' tickets at the door on 9th April. Ticket pricing: $5, $3 [for Ngee Ann Poly Students and Alumni, please bring student Pass. 1 pass per ticket.]

Cancellation of SOYC

As you all probably know that SOY’C 11 is being organised by NP students of JTC (Japanese Tsubasa Club), the event itself is considered a school event. We have booked the Convention Centre in early March but it seems that our school’s Estate Management wasn’t able to secure a place at Convention Centre for our event. The booking of the CC was instead awarded to FOC (Freshmen Orientation Camp). SOY’C 11 is now facing the problem of the loss of our location. Our Organising Committee has, therefore, decided to abolish the event due to the lack of time to find a new location in the school. We would rather abolish the event than to provide the event goers with a sub-par location. SOY’C 11 will not be happening. We, the SOY’C Committee sincerely apologise for all the troubles and inconviences caused. We hope to see you in other events. As a consolation, there are many other cosplay events that will be happening around this period of time: FUNAN COSPLAY ENGAGE 2011 BY: Movie Mania Singapore and Funan DigitaLife Mall DATE: Sunday 10 April 2011 TIME: 2.00pm to 6.00pm LOCATION: Funan Digitalife Mall Main Atrium WEBSITE: Funan Cosplay Engage 2011 ADMISSION: FREE LICENSE2PLAY - GAMING & ELECTRONIC FAIR BY: Sphere Exhibits DATE: Friday 27th May to Sunday 29th 2011 TIME: 11am to 9pm LOCATION: Suntec Exhibition Hall 401 WEBSITE: Licence2Play ADMISSION: FREE

1000 Paper Cranes for Hope

We have received many enquiries regarding whether there will be any fundraising activities going on during SOY'C' to aid in the recent Japan disaster, or if SOY Committee is planning on doing anything related to it. We must say that it was very heartbreaking to hear of what had happened to Japan and we sincerely hope our prayers will reach out to those in the affected areas. SOY Committee is happy to partner up with Kaika, a renowned vlogger, on a fundraising project that will be launched during SOY'C'. We believe that many would have heard of the 1000 paper cranes legend, in which it is believed that when a thousand paper cranes are folded and gathered, good luck will be brought upon those we have wished for, and that things would change for the better. As such, with every donation of $2, the donor will be given a piece of paper in which he/she will fold into a paper crane. These paper cranes will then be placed together and form an Origami Japan Flag at the end of the fundraising event. Please note that all proceeds from this project will go to Japan Disaster 2011 Fund by Singapore Red Cross Society, who are working closely hand in hand with the Japanese Red Cross (JRCS) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The Origami Japan Flag will also be given to the Embassy of Japan in Singapore.
Like every one of you, we are trying our best to do as much as we can for Japan and we seek your kind support in this project. Let us all pray that everything will be better for Japan and that everyone will have an enjoyable time at SOY'C'. Cheers.
